The procedure for transmitting readings and paying for electricity

How to correctly take readings from the meter

There are two types of electricity meters:

1. Induction - these are older models of mechanical design.

2. Electronic – these are new products that use modern microprocessor technology.

Both devices display the amount of electricity used, which is measured in kilowatts. In turn, meters are single-phase or three-phase.

Old models

How to take electricity readings from an induction meter. It can be easily identified by the presence of a spinning wheel located behind the glass just below the frame with numbers, which can be five, six or more, depending on its model. The display around them displays all the information necessary for the user . And this:

  • accuracy class;
  • type of electricity meter;
  • mains voltage and frequency;
  • rated load;
  • the number of disk revolutions, which is equal to 1 kW/hour;
  • year of manufacture and device number.

The numbers in the box indicate kilowatt-hours. a control red mark on the disk , which helps determine its full rotation around the axis. The counting mechanism also consists of rotating wheels with numbers.

Often on the right there is one, sometimes two numbers highlighted by a comma or surrounded by a colored frame, usually red, but sometimes it is simply of a reduced size, these are decimal fractions of a kilowatt, so when taking readings they are not taken into account.

If the subscriber, when calculating the amount to be paid, unknowingly takes into account the last marked figure, an overpayment will result. Sometimes, on the contrary, it is not highlighted, but the user does not take it into account, thinking that it is a decimal fraction, resulting in a constant underpayment . In such situations, when it is difficult to understand the readings, you need to write off everything from the display and transfer this information to the customer service, asking for help.

Electricity consumption metering

Let's look at how to correctly take electricity meter readings. Let's say a new device has been installed , and they have given you a certificate with initial numbers, for example, 00003, although the numbers on the meter at that time were 00003.2. In the first days of the next month, the readings are taken and recorded again, not taking into account the decimals, let’s say it’s 00148.

Present month Last month Total used, kW

00148 00003 145

Now they multiply the kilowatts by the tariff and get the amount that needs to be paid for the electricity used. Receipts are kept because the readings of the previous month will be taken from them, or a special notebook is created.

When the counting mechanism goes through the entire cycle , it will show 99999.9, and after that 00000.0. Many subscribers get lost in the calculations, but here you can help yourself with a sign where they separately record the data before and after zeroing, and then summarize, for example:

  • Meter readings
  • Present month Last month Total used, kW
  • 100000 99875 125
  • 00050 00000 50
  • Total used over the past month 175

As you can see, for convenience, the number 1 has been added before the zeros, then everything is simple. You can determine the amount of electricity used after resetting the meter even easier. We write off the readings, in our example it is 00050, add one in front of the number and display the difference:

When replacing the meter, it will be convenient to make a table , the first kilowatt-hours are subtracted from the removed device, the next ones are subtracted in a new way, together they get the total number of kW/hours used for the month. For example, the old meter was removed with the numbers 55475, and a new one was installed, showing 00005. The time for reading the indicators approaches, as always, the data is written off from the meter, and this is 00150 and entered into the table. The results are summed up, resulting in 245 kW/hour.

Meters Present month Last month Total used, kW

Old 55475 55375 100

New 00150 00005 145

Total used in the past month 245

How to check if the meter is working properly

It is very easy to check the model of an induction meter for serviceability yourself. We look at the disk , it rotates and the greater the load, the faster. A meter in which 1 kW/hour is equal to 600 disk revolutions is checked in this way:

  • completely turn off the lights and all electrical appliances from the sockets, the disk should stop;
  • connect, for example, an electric stove with a power of 1 kW/hour and read the disk revolutions for one minute.

If you count 10 revolutions within 1 minute, then the counter is working properly . They learn about it this way: 600:60 = 10. Do not forget that for some models 1 kW/hour = 1200 disk revolutions, then 1200: 60 min. = 20.

According to the standard

If an electric meter is not installed, the consumer pays for the supply of resources according to current standards. Standard indicators and tariffs are approved by local authorities, taking into account the costs of production and transmission of electrical energy, as well as the individual characteristics of the region that affect the cost of resources.

If the absence of an individual meter is explained by the impossibility of installing it for technical reasons, the calculation is performed using the following formula:

P = k × N × T, in which

  • P – monthly payment amount;
  • k – the number of officially registered residents in the specified living space;
  • N – consumption standards established in the region;
  • T – the value of the tariff that determines the cost of one kilowatt-hour.

If there are no technical reasons why it is impossible to install an electric meter, an increasing coefficient is additionally included in the formula in addition to the indicated multipliers. Its use is explained by the fact that the authorities are trying to interest owners in installing individual metering devices.

The number of residents is determined according to official registration data. But if, during the inspection, representatives of the management company identify additional persons in the specified living space, the payment amount will be calculated taking into account unregistered residents.

We recommend: Energy sales organizations in the Moscow region

Calculation example

Let's consider an example of calculation for a family from Moscow consisting of 3 people. The two-room apartment is not equipped with an electric stove, and electrical energy is not used to heat the room.

The tariff established for these conditions is 5.47 rubles. for 1 kWh with a consumption rate of 56 kWh per person.

The amount is calculated using the above formula. After substituting the actual values, we get:

P = 3 × 56 × 5.47 = 918.96 rubles,

For a situation where installing a meter is not technically possible. Otherwise, the result must be further multiplied by 1.5. Then the payment will increase to 1378.44 rubles.

Electronic meters

These modern models have a small computer built into them, the electronic display of which is capable of displaying energy consumption at certain times of the day.

When readings are taken from a single-tariff counting device , problems do not arise, but if it is multi-tariff, then you need to know how to do this correctly, as well as how to calculate the amount for payment at what tariff.

If the subscriber does not learn to do this on his own, he will have to transfer data monthly to the supplier , who will count the payment amount for him, or install a modern meter equipped with an automatic ASKUE control system.

Multi-tariff meters

Recently, multi-tariff electricity metering devices have been increasingly used; they are produced for both single-phase and three-phase AC circuits.

One of the inexpensive and fairly high-quality counters is the Mercury counter. For example, Mercury 200.02 keeps energy records in two tariff modes , so in order to save money, subscribers are increasingly replacing old induction devices with them. Depending on the model, it is programmed for a different number of time intervals for convenient calculation of the cost of electricity according to tariffs. These meters have become the most popular because they can significantly save money.

Features of multi-tariff meters

Two-tariff meters, depending on the time period, have two operating modes :

• T1 – from 7 am to 11 pm;

• T2 – from 11 pm to 7 am.

The three-tariff meter has three temporary operating modes, namely:

• T1 – from 17 to 21 hours;

• T2 – from 23 to 7 am;

• T3 are time intervals: from 10 am to 5 pm, and from 21 to 23 pm.

At night there is a reduced tariff, so electricity is cheap, the most expensive during peak load, from 17 to 21 hours.

Taking readings from an electronic meter

Let's look at how to take readings from an electronic electricity meter. On its display there is an illuminated letter “T” with numbers from 1 to 3, as well as an “enter” button, which helps to select the used kilowatts in the desired tariff modes. By clicking on it, they search for the required parameter , recording the numbers on paper. Use this button until all the data is written down accordingly:

• T1 – for a single-tariff meter;

• T1 and T2 – for a two-tariff meter;

• T1, T2 and T3 – for a three-tariff meter.

From the received figures we subtract, accordingly, the previous data. For example, T1 of the previous month is subtracted from the current T1; the same is done with the values of T2, as well as with T3 if the meter is three-tariff.

Now, having the kilowatt-hours of the required tariff categories, they multiply them accordingly by prices, so they find out the amounts that must be paid for the electricity used at different times.

It remains to determine the total monthly amount that must be paid for the electricity used. To do this, let us summarize the values already calculated for different tariffs.

We must remember! When independently deducting the amounts payable, each of the received values must be multiplied by T1, T2 or T3 by the corresponding coefficient (price), which is indicated on the receipt.

Let's look at how to transmit electricity meter readings to the supplier automatically. This is very convenient because the subscriber does not have to waste time on monthly recording of data and subtracting amounts to be paid. You also have to keep receipts or keep a notebook, which can easily be lost.

But in order to use the function of automatic transmission of readings, a modern electronic meter must be installed in the subscriber’s home. You also need to contact your energy supplier, indicate your personal account number, address and email. automatic control system for ASKUE will be activated , which will save the consumer from unnecessary fuss and save his time.

Progress is moving forward by leaps and bounds. This applies to all areas of industry and electronics. He did not ignore electrical equipment either. New technologies in the production of electricity meters, although they make readings more convenient, are a double-edged sword. Not everyone immediately understands how to see this or that tariff in order to rewrite the data. In fact, there is nothing complicated about this. You just need to understand which button to press. Once you do this, everything becomes clear. Today we’ll figure out how to take readings from an electricity meter, simultaneously looking at three-phase metering devices. Let's look at some models in more detail.

Read in the article:

Payment for electricity by bank card through CC

Mosenergosbyt JSC offers its clients – individuals – to pay for electricity from a bank card account issued in Russian rubles by simply calling the company’s Contact Center:

8 499 550-9-550

At the request of the Contact Center operator, in order to process the payment, it is necessary to provide the personal account number of the household client of Mosenergosbyt JSC, the amount and period of payment, as well as bank card details.

There is no commission charged to the payer for making a payment!

Why is an electricity meter installed?

Any room, private house or apartment is equipped with electricity meters. This is done so that the energy sales company knows which of the owners spends how much electricity. Generating electricity requires money, which means you have to pay for its consumption. Let's imagine a situation where there are no electric meters. Then how to understand the expense of each owner? Pay equally? Vasya’s light is on around the clock, but Ivan Ivanovich only turns on the light bulb in the toilet, and then rarely... It’s unfair.

Operating principle and types of meters: how they differ

Electric meters are divided into two types:

  • induction;
  • electronic;
  • electromechanical - which replaced induction.

The first option is gradually being phased out due to large errors during operation. Its operating principle is based on the magnetic field created by an inductor. The current passing through the coil creates a field that causes the aluminum disk on which the gear is mounted to rotate. This gear transmits torque to the number rollers, causing them to rotate. They are used to determine the light meter readings.

Electronic electricity meters are designed differently. There are voltage and current sensors that transmit a signal to the converter. The signal turns into a pulse, which is recognized by the microcontroller. The microcircuit recognizes the pulse, calculating the necessary parameters based on its frequency. The meter readings are displayed on the display and remain in the device’s memory for the entire service life. To prevent memory reset when the voltage is turned off, such electric meters are equipped with an autonomous power supply aimed at maintaining the memory.

How to correctly take readings from an induction electricity meter

Many people think that there are no rules for taking electricity meter readings and that all numbers on induction meters need to be rewritten and transferred to the management company. However, it is not. Let's look at what electricity meter readings need to be transmitted.

There is no need to enter the last digit in the red window when submitting data.

There are individual copies where all the numbers are rewritten, but such “mastodons” can no longer be found. Such devices were produced in the middle of the last century. On the scoreboard they only had 4 windows with numbers. Today, there are only electricity meters with five, six or even seven windows. On such electricity metering devices, the rightmost digit is not taken into account and is not taken into account when electricity is supplied (it comes after the decimal point or in a box highlighted in color). On newer electromechanical electricity meters (they are usually called inductive) this video is highlighted in a separate color, usually red. If you put in all the numbers, your electricity bills will be huge.

Here it is, the same “mastodon” made in Leningrad in 1958. Only 4 digits

Electronic electricity meter: rules for taking readings

Electronic metering devices vary in design. For this reason, taking readings from a device of one brand differs from the same actions with a product from another company. Let's consider the most popular models of various brands among the population.

How to take readings from the Mercury 200 electricity meter

First, let's consider the option with a single-stage device. This means that the payment does not change during the day. Everything is simple here - look at the display. It shows the full amount of electricity consumed during the entire operation of the device. We rewrite the data (to the decimal point) and submit it to the management company.

Mercury 200 with key fob is easy to install. The bar is attached to the same places where the induction electric meter was fixed

If the tariff is two-rate and electricity consumed at night is cheaper, we perform the following actions. On the display we find the letter “T” (on the left of the screen). Next to it there may be a number 1 or 2, which can be changed by pressing the “ENTER” button on the front panel. With each press the number will change.

If there are more tariff rates (sometimes up to 4), the actions are similar. The second button “O” allows you to switch the mode from consumed kW to the load currently consumed by household appliances.

How to take readings from the Mercury 230 electricity meter

"Mercury 230" is a three-phase metering device. However, there is no difference between it and the previous version in the algorithm, which means that once you figure out how to correctly take readings from Mercury 200 electricity meters, this model will be easy to understand.

Mercury 230 three-phase - removal occurs like the 200th

Press “ENTER” until “T1” appears, record the readings, “ENTER” again... And so on. Typically these models have 3 tariffs:

  • T1 – peak tariff;
  • T2 – half-peak;
  • T3 – night.

Metering device "Energomera": features of readings

If you understand how to correctly take electricity readings from Mercury meters, then there will be no problems with Energomer devices. The names of the tariffs are indicated similarly. The only difference is that the button pressed to switch is not called “ENTER”, but “PRSM”, which means viewing. The remaining actions are performed in the same order.

The Energomera electricity meter is quite easy to use

We take readings from the Micron meter

Let's figure out how to correctly take readings from the Micron electricity meter. There is only one control button on the front panel of this metering device. The tariff symbol does not light up on the display. Instead, there are 2 downward arrows at the bottom of the LCD screen. Below them, on the glass, are symbols.

This is what a Micron electric meter looks like. Tariff scale at the bottom of the screen

We press the control button until we see that the arrows are set to the designations “T1” and “R+”. This is the daily rate that needs to be recorded. Then press again until “T2” and “R+” coincide. We perform the same actions for other tariffs, if any.

Learning to take readings from the Saiman meter

It is easy to understand how to take readings from the Saiman electricity meter. This is a metering device with no buttons on the front panel. Here you will have to wait until the desired parameter (“T1” or “T2”) is displayed for a two-tariff calculation, or “TOTAL” (total) if the device is configured for daily calculation without changing the cost of kW.

There are no buttons on the panel of the Saiman electric meter

Which electricity meter is best to install in an apartment? In this review, we will look at the types of designs, what you need to pay attention to when choosing, popular models and manufacturers, average prices, and recommendations from experts.

Three-phase metering devices: nuances of reading readings

Three-phase devices, if they are used for high powers, are called transformer devices. These are different from the direct-connection electricity meters we are used to. As such, the phase conductors of electrical wires do not come to them. Instead, current transformers are installed on the phase buses, and wires from them go to the meter. How to take readings from such a counter? To do this, we take the data from the device and multiply it by the transformation coefficient. These will be the numbers we need.

If a three-phase electronic device is installed, then the question of how to take readings from the electricity meter (day, night) will no longer arise. Everything is done by analogy with the metering devices described above.

Three-phase electricity meters are quite bulky

How to calculate electricity by meter and pay for it

The calculation is quite simple. To be able to do this, you need to record meter data for each month.

Number of tariffsStep #1Step #2Step #3
Single tariff (“T” or “TOTAL”)Taking general readingsWe subtract the kW that was supplied last monthThe remaining amount of kW is multiplied by the cost of 1 kW
Multi-tariff (“T1”, “T2”, etc.)We take readings for each tariff separatelyWe subtract the “T1” submitted last month from the “T1” just withdrawn. The same actions with other tariffs We multiply the resulting numbers separately. “T1” for the cost of 1 kW during the day, “T2” for the night tariff

How to read electricity meter readings is now clear. What about automatic data transfer devices?

Electricity meters are verified only by specialized organizations

Account detailing

All information is stored in your personal account. You can:

  • Review previously issued invoices at any time.
  • View completed payments.
  • Get information on electricity consumption statistics.
  • Create samples for any time at your discretion:
      You need to go to the “Account Status” tab and select the appropriate section there

On the “Useful Tips” tab you can find a map showing all offices in Moscow and the Moscow region, their contacts and opening hours.

Electricity meters with remote readings

Relatively recently, meters with remote readings appeared on the Russian electrical engineering market. They allow you not to think about transmitting data on metering devices every month, but do this work independently. The owner will only need to send the first readings to the energy sales company, after which the device will take over this work. To send for the first time, you need to press the button on the front panel and go to your personal account. If within 20 minutes to half an hour you have not received a message in your personal account, you need to repeat the operation until you are notified of a successful connection. No further action is required afterwards.

Self-service terminals

You can pay for electricity in cash at payment terminals installed in the structural divisions of Mosenergosbyt JSC.

A mandatory requisite for making a payment is the personal account number indicated in the payment document and consisting of 10 characters

Maximum amount of one payment (including commission) RUB 14,999.00

Information about the completed payment is transmitted in real time and is reflected in the “Client’s Personal Account” in the “Account Status” section – “History of payments for electricity” with the sign “Processing”

When funds are credited to the client’s personal account, the payment is assigned the “Credited” attribute. The payment processing time is from 3 to 5 days.

The service is provided by Integrator IT LLC

Submitting electricity meter readings: algorithm of actions

Today it is rare to meet a person who does not know how electricity meter readings are provided. However, this happens. Let's figure out what actions need to be taken for this and how this is done.

Each management company (or energy sales company for direct payment) sets a certain date of the month for data submission. Usually it is 25÷27. You can submit data a little earlier, but not later. If you are late, information will not be accepted. This happens because the company must make payments before the end of the month.

Data is received at the organization’s office, by telephone (usually indicated on an information stand near the house or at the entrance), through short SMS messages. You can also enter your electricity meter readings on the website of the service or energy sales company by registering in your personal account. Another option is PO Boxes. You can put a piece of paper in them with the electricity meter data copied onto it.

A sheet with electricity data can be dropped into a PO box

In this publication, we will look at how to transmit electricity meter readings through a call center and operator, via SMS, in the office, through a mailbox, or via the Internet.

Anti-magnetic seals on the electric meter: what are they for?

Electricity theft is not new. Some may say that huge companies will not become poor from a small electricity leak, but the problem is different. The money that the energy sales organization missed will be paid by bona fide tenants of the entire building.

The most common method today, as before, is to slow down the torque using a magnet (applies to induction devices). The anti-magnetic seal is designed to prevent such cases.

It is a sticker with a special capsule, which is destroyed under the influence of a magnetic field, changing color. The very first Energonadzor controller will notice this. As a result, there is a minimum fine that will cover all savings. It will also not be possible to peel it off - in this case the inscription “OPENED” will appear.

Under the influence of a magnetic field, the capsule collapses and changes color

Similar antimagnetic seals are glued to both water and gas meters. To date, this method of combating theft has proven itself well.

What are the penalties for breaking the seal?

The fine for such an act, if the owner’s guilt is proven, is calculated for each apartment separately. Calculations are made as follows. The cost of 600 kW is multiplied by the number of sockets in the apartment. It is clear that the amount will be huge. But this is only subject to an examination of the electric meter and proof of the owner’s intervention in the device circuit for the purpose of stealing electricity. If guilt is not proven, the consumer will pay for the last month at the average expense for the previous three.

Cost of sealing an electricity meter

When installing or replacing an electric meter, sealing is provided free of charge. If the company talks about paying for the initial filling, you can safely go to court. If the seal is broken, the organization has the right to demand payment. The cost of resealing is set by the energy sales company. There is no fixed rate here.

If the seal is broken, it will be noticeable

Payment for electricity by bank card via mobile phone

Using the Mobile Commerce service, you can pay for electricity using your personal account by sending a message to the short number 3434.

An Internet connection or installation of additional software on your mobile phone is not required.

To activate this service, the client must register a bank card from which funds will be debited by clicking on the link: https://pay.vbrr.ru/payment/merchants/Mosenergosbyt_sms/sms_binding.html

After registering a card to make a payment for electricity, you must send a message to the short number 3434, the text of which indicates the following information:

PAY(space)MES(space)XXXXXXXXXX(space)MMYY(space)payment amount, where XXXXXXXXXX is the personal account number, MMYY is the payment period.

Immediately after sending the SMS message, you will receive a notification from the sender “VBRR” containing the personal account number, masked bank card number and payment amount, which

must be sent without making any changes to the text to number 3434. Attention! forwarding the message received from “VBRR” to the short number 3434 is the payer’s consent to make a payment in the specified amount.

After funds are debited from your bank card account, you will receive a notification containing confirmation of payment.

The minimum payment amount is 50 rubles.

Attention! There is no commission for sending an SMS message to the short number 3434; you only pay the cost of sending an SMS message according to the tariff plan of your telecom operator.

Summarize

Taking electricity meter readings is not a difficult task. The main thing is not to forget to do it on time. Then no conflict situations will arise.

We hope our reader learned something new and useful from today’s article. We will be happy to answer questions if they arise during reading in the comments. Perhaps someone will share their experience of submitting testimony - we will be happy to publish it for all readers. Good luck!

And finally, a video on anti-magnetic fillings:

Energy meters

Taking readings from the Energy Meter day-night electricity meter (two-tariff or multi-tariff) occurs in exactly the same way. The difference is that the button on these electricity meters is called “PRSM” (view). There may be two or three buttons, depending on the modification.

Electricity meter Energomera CE301

When you click on this button, numbers appear showing how many kilowatts were “increased” for each tariff zone. There are no more differences.

Take readings from the Micron electricity meter

In Mikron multi-tariff electronic electricity meters, there is only one button on the case, and you need to press it to display the required readings on the screen. Only in this case, you need to wait until “checkmarks” appear on the display above the letters “T1” and “R+” (see photo). This will be the reading for the first tariff.

How to take readings from the Micron electric meter model SEB-1TM.02M

Then click on the same button until the checkmarks appear above T2 and R+, if there are more zones, click further. This is how readings are taken from this day/night meter.

Saiman counters

Now in many regions they replace old induction meters with electronic ones free of charge and most often install devices from Saivan. These are very simple devices; they do not have buttons that can be used to forcefully “scroll through” the readings. You just have to wait until the required value is displayed. That is, in this case, take readings from the electricity meter - just wait until the required value (TOTAL) is displayed and write it down on the receipt (or transfer it to the appropriate service).

To make it easier to navigate, here is the order in which the data is displayed in this electric meter:

  • date of;
  • time;
  • meter number;
  • gear ratio (1600);
  • TOTAL - readings of a single-tariff meter or are displayed sequentially T1, T2, TOTAL for day/night type meters (two-tariff).

It is necessary to record the TOTAL or T1 and T2 readings and also the general TOTAL readings on the receipt. Let us remind you once again that you only need to write down the whole part, without taking into account the numbers after the decimal point. You can watch the same information in video format.

Forgot your password and/or login. What to do?

If you cannot log into your personal account or have forgotten the data specified during registration, you can do so in several ways:

  • Write a request to support [email protected] Response time within 3-4 days
  • Call the Mosenergosbyt hotline +7 (495) 981-981-9.

If you have forgotten your password, there is a “Password recovery” option:

  • On the authorization page, click on the “Password recovery” link;
  • In the appropriate window, enter:
  1. Account number.
  2. The email address specified during registration.

You will receive an activation email and your authorization will be successful.

How to take readings from three-phase meters

There are two types of three-phase electricity meters - the old type, which requires transformers, and electronic direct connection (without transformers). If an electronic one is installed, the electricity meter readings must be taken in the same way as described above. Simply write down the values, wait until the necessary information is displayed on the screen, or “scroll” the data to the required page.

Connecting an electric meter in a three-phase network via current transformers

If a large amount of power is allocated or an old-style meter is installed, a transformer is installed on each of the phases. To take readings in this case, you need to know the transformation ratio. The readings taken must be multiplied by this coefficient. The resulting figure will be the actual expense.

But in general, you need to read the contract. The calculation procedure must be prescribed there - in some organizations they write out readings, put down the transformer data or transformation ratio, and the actual calculations are made by the operator himself. So, if you have a 3-phase meter, check the form and procedure for calculations when installing and sealing the metering device and putting it into operation.
